With graduation having come and the school year coming to an end, it's scary to think about how quickly the year went by. Some people might say that it didn't go quickly at all. However, I feel like each year has just been going progressively faster. This year was definitely the hardest. This is the most highly anticipated summer in my life, and I cannot wait for it to come. I had thought that my last post was the last of the year, but since its not, I guess I'd like to take this time to talk about summer.
I love summer. Although last summer was really busy for me, I still enjoyed it. Summer just lets me feel so free. This summer I am (hopefully) getting my license, which will be helpful. I can't wait to wake up at 12 o'clock, sit around aimlessly for a while, play some video games, go out, hang out with friends, come home, and repeat. A bit of fun hasn't ever hurt anybody. Going to the pool will also be a plus. I find it funny when I get a tan line (though for some reason some people don't understand black people can also get darker). One thing I'm quite anxious to do is play basketball. I haven't been able to play in forever because I hurt my groin, so finally returning to the court is going to be great.
All-in-all, I need summer to get here...NOW! I love summer. This next week is probably going to be the longest one of my life, but that will just make summer so much better. I hope that all of you have a great summer, and have a great life. Much love, Tahar

My Futile Attempt
"In this last blog I will try to take the task that was put on me. I may mess up, but I think it will be fun to try. I want to tell all of you how I am very not sad that the end of the year is here. I can not wait for the warm sun to beat down on my face as I chill all day. All of my days will be spent with my friends. I am very happy that I will have three months of fun. I am quite happy I will spend my time in bed (to sleep of course), the fan in a twirl over my head. I love the fact that I only have one more year of high school. I feel like life is so fast now, and I want to just stop at times to live for now. Life is short, and at times it is hard, but it is how you act in the time you are here, not what comes later, that makes you great."
This was my attempt at writing a blog post with only one syllable. As you can see, it was a very futile attempt. However, I really was trying to make a point. In some of my posts, I may have come off as nostalgic. During the second semester of junior year, I have started the college process, like many of my peers. However, As I have been going through this process, I've come to realize that while we are all so caught up in our futures, we aren't taking enough time in the present. Sometimes when I'm sitting alone, just thinking, I miss the days of my childhood, and how I didn't have a care in the world. I don't want that to happen again as I move into the stage of my life. High school is supposed be full of our best memories, and I don't want to rush through it all, so worried about the future that I'm not appreciating the present. Now, I'm not trying to say we shouldn't try to plan the future completely. In all honesty, that would be foolish. However, all of the over-planning and competition that our school perpetuates just doesn't make sense. I myself have made plans for myself, but that doesn't mean that they won't change. How can people ask what I want to do with my life when I'm just trying to make it through the day? So really, while I am satisfied with my plans at the moment, who's to say that they won't change in 5 years, or 10 years, or 20 years? My attempts to plan everything are just...futile. I'm just trying not to get too caught up in the future and live in the present. Life is moving fast as it is, and it's only going to get faster. So while I'm going to be doing a lot of different things this summer, I'm also going to try and do things that are essentially pointless. This is my last summer of high school, and I don't want to miss anything because I was so caught up in the future. I'm just going to try to have a great summer, though in the end it might just be a futile attempt. Only time will tell.
Have a great summer everybody.

My House
I usually like to tell people my house sucks. When people come over, there's not exactly much to do. I have an Xbox (with one working controller :(), a Play Station 2 (again, one working controller), and a Nintendo 64 (which has Pokemon Stadium). The only thing I thought I could really do with people at my house was watch movies. However, I've come to realize that you don't have to have to have to have a lot of stuff to have fun. You have to make fun.
Recently, I had some friends over to hang out. Seeing as I didn't have a lot to do, we were just going to watch a movie. However, just watching a movie alone was a bit bland. So, we decided to spice it up at do the only logical thing: make a blanket fort. Now, this was a pretty awesome blanket fort. With the help of Sydney, Edward, Marina and my stunning architectural layout, we succeeded. 'Twas a good night and we had fun together. I was surprised that we actually had fun.
I now see that in order to have fun, I don't need to have all of these amazing things at my house. Having fun comes from within. You have to be creative with what you do, otherwise life will just get boring. I now see how fun my house can be. Maybe next time i want to hang out with people I'll have them over again, instead of trying to get away from my house. I LOVE MY HOUSE.

Sydney's house
There are a lot of places that I enjoy being. I like being at home in bed ,curled up and asleep. I like to be in the gym playing basketball. I like to jam with my friends to the radio. However, there is one place in particular: Sydney's house. Now, that might sound kinda creepy, but whenever I go to Sydney's house I have a lot of fun. When I go its usually with Marina, Chris, Christina, Edward, and of course Sydney. We always go as a group, and together we have a blast!
The tradition started last year during the spring semester. We were all just stressed out and figured we needed to have a break, so we decided to hang out together. So, on a Saturday, we chose to have a Land Before Time mega movie marathon (we chose the Land Before Time because they're fantastic movies). That was a great day. We went over at like 9 in the morning and just hung out. One of the high point of the day was when we made breakfast foods. Chris and I were in charge of making hash browns. However, for some inexplicable reason they became brown and didn't cook right (it totally wasn't my fault. I've made hash browns before). This resulted in us throwing away like 8 potatoes. However, the rest of the food was delicious, so it was ok. Cooking has become a routine thing now whenever we hang out, and its always really really really really reallllllly good.
Another thing we all do together is play hide and seek. When we play, Sydney's little brother Ethan usually plays with us. One time, while I was the seeker, Ethan had the idea that everybody should hide in the garage, which I was told was off limits. Thus, I spent 20 minutes walking around Sydney's house before I finally quit. It was totally not fair. However, hide and seek is always fun and I think its safe to say we all enjoy it.
When we're together, Chris, Edward, and I tend to do funny yet foolish things. On one instance while cooking dinner, we left with Ethan to play Foosball. The girls weren't too pleased with this, and threatened not to let us eat. However, in the end we ate AND got to play Foosball, so it was pretty much a win-win situation. Another time the girls were upstairs, so in the basement we turned off all of the lights and took our shirts and tied them around our heads, thus looking like ninjas. When Christina came down it was pitch dark, and for some inexplicable reason she didn't turn on the lights. We then ninja surprise attacked her, and she almost peed her pants. It was hilarious.
Sydney's house so fun. We've tried going to other peoples houses, but its not the same. Whenever I go to Sydney's house I have fun. It does make me sad that we haven't been there in a while, but its ok. I just hope we get to go again soon. Sydney's house is the best. Being there having fun with my friends is all i can ask for, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
P.S. Sydney, if you read this, your house is fantastic and thanks a lot for always having us over :P
P.P.S. Christina, don't look in the vents :)

Pick me up, before you go go
Everybody has their bad days, when nothing seems to go right. You feel like you're tumbling down farther and farther into the depths of despair, and nothing can pick you up. For me, today has just been one of those days. However, I have a cure. Whenever I'm down I have things that I like to do that pick me right back up and make me feel better about myself. There are a lot of ways I can make myself feel better, and I'll share a few with you.
One thing i like to do is channel my frustration physically (I don't actually hurt anybody). Depending on whatever season I'm in (assuming it's school so it's an athletic season), I focus on trying really hard and giving 1000000003 percent. when I let out this frustration I feel a lot better afterwords. Working hard also leads me to another thing that makes me feel better: relaxing. Sitting back and relaxing always helps. It calms me.
When I'm relaxing I find myself reflecting on whatever is bothering me. During this process I usually throw on some music. Music helps me think because I can drown out everything around me and just focus on it without getting distracted. Some songs I like to listen to in particular are Soundtrack 2 My Life by Kid Cudi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyDcktys9EU and L.A.X. Files by The Game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScCpzzcLpWo. After contemplating for a while when I'm finally ready to get going again I put on some happy music, maybe some Basshunter or some Hellogoodbye http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYu1C-Cn9Ag.
Being down on yourself always sucks. However, I know that I have ways that I can make myself better. I hope that you can too, and next time you're down I hope you pick yourself back up. :)

BIG, GREEN, AND HAIRY
We are all on a quest for something. In my Pokemon post I talked about Ash and his quest for eternal glory as a Pokemon master. In my Lion King post I talked about Simba's quest to return home and become the rightful ruler of his pride. I'm here to tell you about another epic quest that I remember watching in my youth. It is the tale of a mystical fairytale creature. The tale of a beast so magnificent that there were 4 (not one, not two, not three, but FOUR) movies made about him. The tale of Shrek. Now, let me embark on this quest to lend you some insight on one of the bestest questiest quests ever.
If you didn't know, Shrek is the story of Shrek himself, Shrek the ogre. At the beginning of the movie Shrek is a rather grumpy character. He doesn't have ANY friends, and everybody hates him. However, one fateful day, he meets Donkey. Donkey is my favorite. I feel as though I can relate to him. I'm goofy, he's goofy. I'm funny (if I do say so myself), he's funny. I'm annoying (sometimes), he's annoying (sometimes). I love waffles, he love waffles. The are so many similarities between us...however, I digress. After meeting donkey, some stuff happens (which I wont tell you, so you just have to watch the movie to know what happens). The result of said "stuff" sends Donkey and Shrek on and journey to find Princess Fiona, who is to marry Lord Farquad. The some more "stuff" happens (I am referring to this "stuff" as "stuff" in order to get you to watch the movie and find out what happens. I don't want to spoil the whole thing for you if you haven't seen it). After Shrek saves the Fiona, he heads back to Farquad's kingdom. During this quest back he begins to develop feelings for Fiona. Now from there there are some plot twists, some crazy stuff happens, and I won't reveal the ending for all those weirdo's who haven't seen Shrek.
From this fairy tale I gathered more than just an interesting tale. I feel as though the movie was trying to instill a deeper moral in its viewers. You see, Shrek is different. In the beginning people treated him badly because he was different. However, Shrek proceeded to come out of his shell and show everybody how cool of a person he was. Now, I probably couldn't articulate that as well when I was a child, or I didn't realize that that was the message I was getting, but I know now that Shrek helped me realize that it's not a bad thing to be different. There's nothing wrong with that. Shrek showed me that everybody is an All-Star (and that was his theme song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_jWHffIx5E). Shrek showed me that everybody can still make beneficial contributions to society if they're given the chance. Just because we're different doesn't mean there's something wrong with us. Due to Shrek's wonderful morals and fantastic plot line, it is still one of my favorite movies to this day.
Now that you've finished reading this post, you can continue one your quest, whatever that may be, but always remember Shrek's quest for love, happiness, and equality.

RAWR!!!!
Favorites. Everybody has them. You never get sick of your favorite, no matter what it is. You have your favorite food, your favorite book, your favorite sport, and (most importantly) your favorite movie. I'm here to tell you about my favorite movie, which is undoubtedly the best movie ever made, The Lion King. I mean, how can any other movie even compare. The Lion King has it all. It will make you laugh, It will make you cry, and it will make your heart pound in its thrilling action scenes.
The plot of the movie is phenomenal. Waring for any readers, semi-spoiler alert (though shame on you for not having seen the movie yet!). Right off the bat I feel in love with all of the characters in the movie, particularly young Simba. Even the antagonist of the movie, Uncle Scar, is funny at the beginning with his dark humor. However, the movie loses its light hearted matter when Uncle Scar sets up a trap for Simba and his father, Mufasa, that still upsets me just thinking about it. This plan results in the heart-wrenching death of Mufasa, Simbas running away from the Pride, and Scars new regime as ruler of the kingdom. At this point we are introduced to Timon and Pumba, who lighten the mood a bit with our antics. Simba lives with them and grows up, with his motto being Hakuna Matata "Which means no worries, for the rest of your days, its our problem freeeeee, philosophyyyyyyy...Hakuna Matata"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejEVczA8PLU. Simba lives with Timon and Pumba until Nala, his old friend shows up. Now, by this point Simba has gone through what is essentially lion puberty, and Nala is a girl lion. In the movie nothing dirty is shown obviously, since it is an animated movie for children. However, it did provide a mood song known as "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7XLnxKlYEo. Now that I have grown older and matured from my adolescent state, I have learned that this song can be rather...useful, though I didn't realize that in my youth. For that I say thank you lion king. Anyways, back to the plot. The movie ends in an epic confrontation which I will not go into detail about, so you'll just have to watch the movie to find out.
As a child The Lion King was my life. When I would play "make believe" i was either Simba or Kovu (Kovu being a character from The Lion King 2, which I also deem as a fantastic movie). I've watched it countless times (like over 9000), and I can say that I have most of the dialogues memorized (which also means i have every scene memorized). While that may make it seem as though The Lion King only resonates in my mind, that is false, for it also resides in my heart. I love The Lion King, and I always will. If you haven't seen it, you should, if you don't like it, I don't know why, and if you do then maybe we can be friends. If you haven't watched it recently, you should watch, and I know that I'm going too soon. Maybe it'll become your favorite.
