Favorites. Everybody has them. You never get sick of your favorite, no matter what it is. You have your favorite food, your favorite book, your favorite sport, and (most importantly) your favorite movie. I'm here to tell you about my favorite movie, which is undoubtedly the best movie ever made, The Lion King. I mean, how can any other movie even compare. The Lion King has it all. It will make you laugh, It will make you cry, and it will make your heart pound in its thrilling action scenes.
The plot of the movie is phenomenal. Waring for any readers, semi-spoiler alert (though shame on you for not having seen the movie yet!). Right off the bat I feel in love with all of the characters in the movie, particularly young Simba. Even the antagonist of the movie, Uncle Scar, is funny at the beginning with his dark humor. However, the movie loses its light hearted matter when Uncle Scar sets up a trap for Simba and his father, Mufasa, that still upsets me just thinking about it. This plan results in the heart-wrenching death of Mufasa, Simbas running away from the Pride, and Scars new regime as ruler of the kingdom. At this point we are introduced to Timon and Pumba, who lighten the mood a bit with our antics. Simba lives with them and grows up, with his motto being Hakuna Matata "Which means no worries, for the rest of your days, its our problem freeeeee, philosophyyyyyyy...Hakuna Matata"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejEVczA8PLU. Simba lives with Timon and Pumba until Nala, his old friend shows up. Now, by this point Simba has gone through what is essentially lion puberty, and Nala is a girl lion. In the movie nothing dirty is shown obviously, since it is an animated movie for children. However, it did provide a mood song known as "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7XLnxKlYEo. Now that I have grown older and matured from my adolescent state, I have learned that this song can be rather...useful, though I didn't realize that in my youth. For that I say thank you lion king. Anyways, back to the plot. The movie ends in an epic confrontation which I will not go into detail about, so you'll just have to watch the movie to find out.
As a child The Lion King was my life. When I would play "make believe" i was either Simba or Kovu (Kovu being a character from The Lion King 2, which I also deem as a fantastic movie). I've watched it countless times (like over 9000), and I can say that I have most of the dialogues memorized (which also means i have every scene memorized). While that may make it seem as though The Lion King only resonates in my mind, that is false, for it also resides in my heart. I love The Lion King, and I always will. If you haven't seen it, you should, if you don't like it, I don't know why, and if you do then maybe we can be friends. If you haven't watched it recently, you should watch, and I know that I'm going too soon. Maybe it'll become your favorite.
wow. ok. sorry for people reading this, i did spell check but that wasn't good enough. I'll try to do a better job to make it neater next time.
ReplyDeleteYou can edit it Tahar :). Good post, even though I don't like most Disney movies because of the subliminal messages. Thanks for the youtube links though, brings back memories :D
ReplyDeleteOne of the best. I love it.
ReplyDeleteDude, can you believe I lost my copy of Mulan during the summer? I was so upset.
You should write about Mulan next.
Growing up my all time favorite Disney movies were Lion King, Mulan, and The Little Mermaid. This post brought back memories of a childhood full of Disney.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Lion King. I remember seeing not only the movie, but also the musical of it in London. The story is absolutely wonderful and even to this day, I will always remember this movie.
ReplyDeleteThank you for bringing up some of my most beloved childhood memories.
This really makes me want to watch the Lion King. But I can't, because I always cry, and I hate crying. It's just like the first Land Before Time movie... always sad, at any age. :(
ReplyDeleteI also liked what you said about feeling the love. And I have to wonder in what situation that song would be "useful" for you... ;)
LOVE LION KING AND LAND BEFORE TIME. <3
ReplyDeleteVery cute post. I'm glad the Lion King has provided you with so much entertainment and so many life lessons. And also proven useful!
ReplyDeleteYou can indeed edit your post even after it's published. I recommend looking out for a couple of names of Lion King characters that need an apostrophe to make them possesssive (early in your post), and also a "too" that should be a "to" (late in your post), which makes one of your sentences mean something other than what you intended :)
Funny and a good post, thank you for reminding me that I really need to watch this movie(I was deprived of Disney movies as a child).
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if i showed you this or not but...In the spirit of disney songs, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9-CS2v8wcc
ReplyDeleteI went on some strange thought train and I realized ive never seen alladin. I remembered that conversation we had about the things you havent experienced (blueberries). so you could write your next post on that. your welcome
