I usually like to tell people my house sucks. When people come over, there's not exactly much to do. I have an Xbox (with one working controller :(), a Play Station 2 (again, one working controller), and a Nintendo 64 (which has Pokemon Stadium). The only thing I thought I could really do with people at my house was watch movies. However, I've come to realize that you don't have to have to have to have a lot of stuff to have fun. You have to make fun.
Recently, I had some friends over to hang out. Seeing as I didn't have a lot to do, we were just going to watch a movie. However, just watching a movie alone was a bit bland. So, we decided to spice it up at do the only logical thing: make a blanket fort. Now, this was a pretty awesome blanket fort. With the help of Sydney, Edward, Marina and my stunning architectural layout, we succeeded. 'Twas a good night and we had fun together. I was surprised that we actually had fun.
I now see that in order to have fun, I don't need to have all of these amazing things at my house. Having fun comes from within. You have to be creative with what you do, otherwise life will just get boring. I now see how fun my house can be. Maybe next time i want to hang out with people I'll have them over again, instead of trying to get away from my house. I LOVE MY HOUSE.
All I have to do at my hosue is watch movies too, but I love watching movies so I don't actually have a problem with that...but it's cool that you're experimenting with ways to make ordinary days extraordinary!
ReplyDeleteHaha, so true! I always loved to get friends over just to see what we could do or make out of the most ordinary things. This just shows that you don't need something super special to spend time with, you can have fun almost anywhere if you've got your mind set to do it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! :)
I've been to your house once for a project and I must say your house is really nice. I always think that the really nice houses are ideal to have fun. The fact that you guys could have so much fun just watching a movie shows that. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteI like this post, but I want to hear more. Why do you love your house? What made you think of building a blanket fort, and can you describe the construction a bit?
ReplyDeleteI agree that sometimes the "problem" is within. Video games can get boring and tiring if played over and over again, so biking or basketball is refreshing for me. We also have a ping-pong table below so that works out pretty well. But most of the time, going to the movies is less maintenance.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next time I'm at your house you could let me in instead of leaving me on the driveway. No more "my house sucks" excuses :P
ReplyDeleteScrew making blanket forts pokemon stadium is an awesome game.
